Develop your mind, increase your knowledge and benefit society through leadership, service and inquiry in the Tarleton State University Honors College. Providing opportunities for students to elevate their coursework, the Honors College prepares undergraduate students for any profession, as well as engaged citizenship and a life-long love of learning. In general, Honors classes don\u2019t require a greater quantity of work, but the work is more intellectually engaging. The result is a high-quality bachelor\u2019s degree in your field of study plus Honors designation on your college transcripts.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

We welcome all majors into The Honors College. In recent years, the top five majors have been pre-nursing, animal science, biomedical science, kinesiology, and psychology.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Combining the advantages of a small liberal arts college with the vibrancy of a comprehensive university, the Honors College offers rigorous coursework, alongside an emphasis on intellectual community that goes beyond the classroom.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

What is The Honors College?<\/h2>\n\n\n\n

At Tarleton State University, the Honors College houses three distinct Honors Degree Programs, including University Honors, Distinguished Honors, and the Presidential Honors Program. Program admission is highly competitive because of limited space in the Honors Hall and small class sizes for the honors courses. Undergraduate students in The Honors College can major in any discipline at Tarleton while becoming part of a greater honors community.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The goal of the Honors College is to provide a community of like-minded students with a supportive and intellectually engaging academic environment that encourages intellectual growth, critical thinking, and lifelong learning. Graduating from the Honors College at Tarleton State University can give students a competitive advantage in applying for graduate school or professional programs, or in pursuing career opportunities that require exceptional academic achievement and intellectual curiosity.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Live in one of the premier residence halls on campus
\nThe Honors Hall is home to more than 400 undergraduate students in the Honors College and offers three housing options: apartments, two-bedroom suites, and cost-efficient double-occupancy rooms. The Honors Hall also features community spaces, including a meeting room with auditorium seating, a spacious lobby, classrooms, study spaces, kitchens, and a large courtyard.<\/p>\n<\/div><\/div><\/div><\/div><\/div><\/div><\/div><\/div><\/div><\/div><\/div><\/div><\/div>

Experience innovative approaches to teaching honors courses
\nHonors courses are taught by distinguished faculty members in each of Tarleton\u2019s academic departments. Study abroad with our signature Honors College Study Abroad experience: a month-long, summer program that rotates locations and topics.
