On February 23, 2018 at Tarleton State University, the Honors College will host its first annual conference for honors programs at institutions that Tarleton has an articulation agreement with.

Registration

Directors will register via email to honors@tarleton.edu including information on number of students attending, names of presenters, topics of presentations, and dietary restrictions.

Presentation Guidelines

Poster Presentations

Up to two students from each participating honors program are invited to stand by their posters to answer questions from the attendees. Directors will provide these names and topics via email to honors@tarleton.edu before February 15, 2018. 

 Posters must meet the following criteria:
  1. Reflect critical thought (should not simply summarize).
  2. Be professional: no hand lettering, mechanical errors, poor illustrations.
  3. Reflect introduction, problem statement; data collection; hypothesis; analysis; conclusion; and accompanying typed bibliography.
  4. Be presented in the form of a standard 3ft x 4ft (landscape) poster.

Oral Presentations

One student from each participating honors program is invited to present for 15 minutes, which includes 10 minutes for the talk and 5 minutes for discussion. Directors will provide these names and presentation titles via email to honors@tarleton.edu before February 15, 2018 with a 150 to 250 word abstract as an attachment.

Oral Presentation Abstracts must meet the following criteria:
  1. Be no more than 250 words
  2. Be formatted in a readable fashion.
  3. Indicate the identity of the writer and the institution.
Presenters must also meet the following criteria:
  1. Be limited to strictly 10 minutes with an additional 5 minute question and answer time.
  2. Arrive prior to presentation time.
  3. Introduce themselves to the classroom moderator. 
  4. Submit their presentation file before 1:00 p.m. on February 23.

 

Presentation locations are Honors Hall 1245

Each classroom has a computer, sound system, and a projector. If you would like to have a projector remote, please bring your own as we will not have one available for every classroom.
