Summer 2018 April 2, 2018 - May 28, 2018 April 2, 2018- August 1, 2018
Fall 2018 April 2, 2018- September 5, 2018 April 2, 2017- December 5, 2018
Commencement Participation

Only candidates who apply by the "Commencement Participation" deadline will be able to "walk"/participate in the graduation commencement ceremony. Commencement participation and graduation are two separate things, however, they are done on the same application. Those students who complete the application by the commencement participation deadline will be considered as eligible to "walk" at commencement.

Degree Conferral Only

Students who do not submit an application by the "Commencement Participation" deadline will not be allowed to participate in the graduation commencement ceremony. However, all students must apply for graduation in order to graduate. Therefore, students who miss the participation deadline must still apply for graduation by the "Degree Conferral Only" deadline. Students who do not apply for graduation will not be awarded a degree. Please see the application deadlines below.

Then - Meet Degree Requirements

All students must meet both university and their major/ minor(s) requirements in order to graduate and receive their diploma. These degree requirements can be found in myGateway under Degree Works and the University Catalog. Students with questions or concerns regarding these requirements should consult an advisor.

Next - Confirm Receipt of Application

Applicants should receive a confirmation of receipt email in their go.tarleton email account within 3 business days of submitting their application. However, students can also confirm if their application was received by visiting myGateway and clicking on Degree Works and viewing their "Degree Status" where it should say "Pending (apply for graduation)."

Finally - Receive Graduation Clearance

Undergraduate Applicants

All undergraduate students will receive a preliminary graduation application status notice emailed to their go.tarleton account within two weeks of applying. This review is preliminary and is not a final or official review of your records. The information is subject to change due to failing or incomplete grades, drops, withdrawals, or other changes in your registration/enrollment for the current or subsequent semester(s). If your notification states you are missing degree requirements, contact your advisor ASAP to resolve these issues. Additionally, your graduation application status will be posted in myGateway in the "Notes" section under Degree Works.

Two to three weeks after the commencement participation deadline, all undergraduate students will receive an updated graduation application status notice in their email. This updated status will also be posted in the "Notes" section in Degree Works. Students missing degree requirements will be given a deadline to resolve any issues and should contact their advisor immediately to resolve these issues.

Students can track their graduation application status in the "Notes" section at the bottom of Degree Works. As soon as additional information or paperwork is received and processed by the Registrar's office, these notes will be updated. Graduation application status notes will begin with "Graduation Audit Performed" followed by the student's status.

All undergraduate students must contact an advisor to resolve issues concerning their degree requirements.

Graduate Applicants

Masters and Doctorate candidates should contact the Graduate Studies office at 254-968-9104 with questions regarding their graduation application status.
