Sunday Afternoon Programs

The W.K. Gordon Center hosts free programs featuring guest speakers and authors once a month on Sunday afternoons. Programs cover a variety of topics relating to Texas industrial history, Thurber and local industries. Past events have included programs by Veldhuizen Cheese Company, author Dr. Gene Tucker's book "Oysters, Macaroni & Beer," Dino-Club beekeepers, wine tastings and many more! Night at the Opera House

From the 1920's to the 1930's, Thurber's famous Opera House showed silent and black & white films. The Night at the Opera House is a free public program that features films shown during this time period. Films are shown in the W.K. Gordon's recreated Opera House located inside the museum. Past movies have included the 1933 Dracula, 1920 The Sheik, 1933 Alice in Wonderland and more!

Special Events

Holiday Music featuring the Country Night Live bandTake a break from the hustle and bustle of the holiday season for food, fellowship, and some western swing on Saturday, December 16, at 6:30pm. This event is free and no reservations are required.
