Historian and photographer Derrick Birdsall will present a free program on his new book of photographs, The Texas Forts Trail, at the W. K. Gordon Center for Industrial History of Texas in Thurber on Sunday, March 23, at 2:30 p.m.

The book, with text by Kristine Davis, spotlights the eight frontier forts and one Spanish presidio that make up the forts trail, one of the historic trails designated by the Texas Department of Transportation in 1968.

Birdsall is superintendent of the Farmers Branch Historical Park in Farmers Branch, a Dallas suburb.

The W.K. Gordon Center, a museum and research facility, is located at exit 367 on Interstate 20 midway between Fort Worth and Abilene. Regular hours are 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Tuesdays to Saturdays and 1 to 4 p.m. on Sundays, closed on Mondays. For more information, call 254-968-1886.
