His story is one of entrepreneurship, relationships, and an unwavering commitment to serving others.

Although his roots run deep in Stephenville and at Tarleton State University, where he first developed his passion for business and community, Dr. Pack’s professional journey began on December 7, 1959, when his brother and mentor, Bill Pack, encouraged him to join Universal CIT. Those three years at CIT proved transformational. Beyond learning the fundamentals of commercial finance, Dr. Pack discovered the importance of building lasting relationships—a principle that would define his career. One of those relationships, with regional manager Sid Cowan, would ultimately change the course of his life.

When Cowan joined Ford Credit, he recruited Dr. Pack in January 1962. During the next 18 years, Dr. Pack rose through the ranks of Ford Credit, serving in a variety of management positions before becoming manager of the Dallas operation. The experience gave him an exceptional understanding of dealership operations, automotive finance, and leadership while expanding the network of trusted relationships that became the foundation of his future success.

In September 1979, those relationships came full circle when respected dealer Lee Jarmon made the phone call that would change Dr. Pack’s and his family’s lives. The call presented an unexpected opportunity—to purchase Lee Jarmon Ford in Carrollton, Texas. Although Dr. Pack did not have the financial resources to acquire the dealership, Jarmon believed in him enough to structure a path forward. The agreement was finalized in December 1979, and on February 12, 1980, Dr. Pack officially became a Ford dealer.

What began as a single dealership evolved into one of North Texas’s premier automotive organizations. Over the past 45 years, Dr. Pack has grown the Sam Pack Automotive Group into six Five Star dealerships across the Dallas–Fort Worth Metroplex, employing more than 1,020 people and generating annual revenues exceeding $1.5 billion. He has also expanded his reach through co-ownership of six additional dealerships in Tulsa, Oklahoma. Through changing markets, economic uncertainty, and rapid technological transformation, Dr. Pack has remained steadfast in a simple philosophy: do what is right, care for people, build lasting relationships, and deliver an exceptional Five Star experience.

Throughout his career, Dr. Pack has credited relationships—not transactions—as the true measure of success. He has been influenced by exceptional mentors, including his brother Bill Pack, Sid Cowan, and Alan Mulally, former President and CEO of The Boeing Company & Ford Motor Company & nationally recognized as one of the Top 3 CEO’s in America, whose leadership reinforced his belief that enduring organizations are built on culture, integrity, accountability, and people who genuinely care about one another.

Tarleton State University has always held a special place in Dr. Pack’s heart. Growing up in Stephenville, he witnessed firsthand the university’s profound impact on the community and the opportunities it created for generations of students. Today, he maintains a close relationship with Tarleton State President Dr. James Hurley and the university’s leadership, admiring their unwavering commitment to students, affordability, innovation, and transformational growth.

Dr. Pack believes President Hurley is among the greatest higher education leaders in America. He often compares Dr. Hurley’s leadership to that of Alan Mulally. In Dr. Pack’s view, both leaders possess the qualities that define exceptional CEOs: a compelling vision, unwavering integrity, a people-first philosophy, and the ability to inspire organizations to achieve extraordinary results while building cultures rooted in trust, accountability, and excellence. Confident in President Hurley’s leadership and the university’s trajectory, Dr. Pack believes Tarleton State University’s greatest days are still ahead. In his view, President James Hurley and his wife, Kindall, are among the university’s greatest assets. Their shared commitment to students, families, faculty, alumni, and the broader Tarleton community reflects the servant leadership, vision, and integrity that Dr. Pack believes will continue to elevate the university for generations to come.

Dr. Pack’s commitment to Tarleton extends well beyond admiration. Through the Dr. Sam Pack College of Business, he is investing in future business leaders and helping students pursue careers they are passionate about. He encourages young people to find work they love, seek out strong mentors, and join organizations whose culture reflects integrity, service, and respect for others.

Philanthropy has become one of the defining characteristics of Dr. Pack’s legacy. In addition to supporting Tarleton State, the Pack Family (Sam, Carol, Tony, Louisa, Carly, & Macy) contributes to a significant number of nonprofit organizations, believing that success carries both the privilege and the responsibility of giving back. Among the causes closest to his heart & that of his family is Holy Angels Residential Facility, where his son, Todd, has been a resident since 1985. The family established a vocational center there, creating meaningful opportunities for residents—including Todd—to participate in the family business.

For Dr. Sam Pack, success has never been measured solely by dealerships built or vehicles sold. Rather, it is measured by lives changed, relationships cultivated, communities

[/et_pb_text][et_pb_testimonial author=”Dr. Sam Pack” quote_icon_color=”#4F2D7F” _builder_version=”4.27.5″ _module_preset=”default” author_font=”|700||on|||||” hover_enabled=”0″ global_colors_info=”{}” sticky_enabled=”0″]

Success is about more than the numbers on the balance sheet; it’s about giving back and making a difference.

[/et_pb_testimonial][/et_pb_column][/et_pb_row][/et_pb_section]

[36,38,35,34

post-25905","post","type-post","status-publish","format-standard","has-post-thumbnail","hentry","category-donor-impact","category-giving","category-giving-with-purpose","category-impact-in-action
["Donor Impact","Giving","Giving With Purpose","Impact In Action
Donor Impact","Giving","Giving With Purpose","Impact In Action
["GET
