Intern2Learn\/Work Study Eligibility<\/h2>\n\n\n\n
<\/div>\n\n\n\n

Fall 2025<\/h2>\n\n\n\n

All students who are starting in a new work-study or Intern2Learn position for the fall 2025 semester may begin working on August 20, 2025, and end on December 10, 2025. Students that hold a position during the fall term and are going to continue in that same position for the spring term may continue to work after the fall semester ends, as long as they are enrolled in at least 6 hours for spring 2024. You must receive approval from your supervisor and<\/strong> the Work-Study and Student Employment Coordinator. <\/strong>Students working under the I2L or FWS Programs are not allowed to work more than 25 hours per week, regardless of HR’s allowance of student overtime during Winter Break.<\/p>\n\n\n\n


Spring 2026<\/h2>\n\n\n\n

All students who are starting in a new work-study or Intern2Learn position for the spring 2025 semester may begin working on January 14, 2026, and end on May 13, 2026. Students that hold a position during the spring term and are going to continue in that same position for the summer term may continue to work after the spring semester ends, as long as they are enrolled in at least 6 hours for summer 2026. You must receive approval from your supervisor and<\/strong> the Work-Study and Student Employment Coordinator.<\/p>\n\n\n\n


Summer 2026<\/h2>\n\n\n\n

Federal Work-Study (FWS) and Intern2Learn (I2L) positions are not <\/strong>offered during the summer term. Departments are responsible for funding student positions during this time. These programs are only available during the fall and spring semesters.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n\n\n\n

Student Employment Opportunities<\/h1>\n\n\n\n

Work-Study<\/h2>\n\n\n\n

Federal Work-Study (FWS) and Texas College Work-Study are supported by the Federal and Texas Governments, and provide students with an opportunity to help cover educational expenses through part-time employment. Work-Study positions are available on-campus at numerous departments as well as off-campus at selected non-profit employers. Off-campus positions are community service-based employment positions that are part of the Community Service Work-Study Program.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

    What Happens After I Apply?<\/h3><\/div>

    After you apply, you\u2019ll receive a response via email specifying your eligibility or if any additional information is needed. Please allow for a few days during this process.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

    Once you have been awarded Work-Study funds, you may begin to apply for jobs on campus or with our community service employers. Available positions can be found on Handshake<\/a>. If you are already working for a department on campus, please inform your supervisor that you have been awarded Work-Study.<\/p>\n<\/div><\/div>\n<\/div>\n\n\n\n

    Intern 2 Learn<\/h2>\n\n\n\n

    A participant works as intern for faculty and staff in areas related to their academic program. Once a student gains experience they may receive pay increases. This program is designed to provide relevant work experience and qualifies as R.E.A.L. (Real World Experience Applied to Learning) internship.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

    4. Meet the guidelines of employment<\/a> as defined by Human Resources<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n<\/div><\/div>\n<\/div>\n\n\n\n

      Graduate Assistantship<\/h2>\n\n\n\n

      Assistantships for graduate students are available in most academic departments that offer a master’s program as well as other university support areas. Most assistantships require teaching, laboratory instruction or research. As assistantships are awarded by each department, applications should be directed to the head of the department in which the applicant studies.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

      1. Be admitted into the College of Graduate Studies<\/li>\n\n\n\n
      2. Maintain a 3.0 cumulative GPA or higher<\/li>\n\n\n\n
      3. Enroll and complete at least 6 graduate credit hours in per semester (Fall and Spring) and 3 credit hours during the summer semester<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n\n\n\n

        Applications for positions must satisfy both Graduate School and department requirements. Academic excellence and maturity are the primary qualifications.<\/p>\n<\/div><\/div>\n<\/div>\n\n\n\n

        How You’re Paid<\/h2>\n\n\n\n

        Students employed on Work-Study and Intern2Learn are paid bi-weekly. These payments will be made on dates outlined within the payroll schedule<\/a>. Graduate assistants are paid monthly.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n\n\n\n
