Federal Pell Grant

A Federal Pell Grant, unlike a loan, does not have to be repaid. Federal Pell Grants usually are awarded only to undergraduate students who have not earned a bachelor's or a professional degree.

The maximum Pell Grant for the 14-15 award year will be $5730. The amount of the Pell can vary based on:

  • Your demonstrated need as reflected in the results of the FAFSA.
  • Your TSU Cost of Attendance (COA).
  • Your status as a full or part-time student and,
  • Your enrollment for the entire award year or possibly less than a full year.

You can receive a Pell for no more than 12 semesters or roughly 6 years of study. You’ll receive a notice when you’re getting close to the limit.  If you exhaust your eligibility before you complete your first Bachelor’s degree the TSU Financial Aid Office will notify you to that effect.
