Program<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>You are require to take the comprehensive exam during your last semester of course work. You must receive a satisfactory grade on each of the two sections to pass the exam and be eligible for degree conferral:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ol class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li><strong>Section One<\/strong>&nbsp;consists of multiple-choice questions that address the major core courses. This section is deigned to test your understanding of concepts in the field of study.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>Section Two<\/strong>&nbsp;is designed to assess higher-order thinking skills. The section is comprised of a comprehensive essay to be&nbsp;<strong><em>scored blindly by your three committee members<\/em><\/strong>.<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\" id=\"how-to-apply-fb2125ce-4337-439a-884e-07b05a8d0136\">How to Apply<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p>Before you may take the exam, you must:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li><a href=\"https:\/\/tarleton.kualihub.com\/app\/6980d993f43a4602894a43a9\/start\">Complete the comprehensive exam application<\/a><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p>The comprehensive examination for the M.Ed. degree is administered three times a year. Please submit the application by the deadline for the applicable semester:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-table\"><table><tbody><tr><th scope=\"col\">Semester<\/th><th scope=\"col\">Application Deadline<\/th><th scope=\"col\">Test Date<\/th><\/tr><tr><td>Spring<\/td><td>March 1<\/td><td>Second Saturday in April<\/td><\/tr><tr><td>Summer<\/td><td>June 5<\/td><td>Second Saturday in July<\/td><\/tr><tr><td>Fall<\/td><td>October 1<\/td><td>Second Saturday in November<\/td><\/tr><\/tbody><\/table><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"warning\">No examination will be administered other than on a regularly scheduled administration date without permission from the graduate advisor, the Department Head, and the Graduate Dean.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\" id=\"grading-procedure-a036c995-3dbd-43e7-9edb-b0c8ce667c35\">Grading Procedure<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p>The multiple choice questions are machine scored; a student is expected to satisfactorily answer a specific number of questions. A student must receive a minimum score of &#8216;3&#8217; on the essay question in order to pass the essay portion of the exam. Oral examinations may be require of any candidate with a marginal performance on Section Two of the exam.
