  1. Admission to Tarleton State University - Graduate Studies
  2. Students should note that they must have their bachelor's degree in nursing in order to be admitted to either master's program as well as have their RN license.
  3. We only accept applicants to this program once a year, during the Fall semester. All applicants should submit their credentials by no later than June 1st in order to be admitted for that year.

The Master of Science in Nursing (MSN) program offers options for a major in Nursing Education or Nursing Administration. The Nursing Education degree will prepare you to teach patients, families, healthcare consumers, nurses, and nursing students.

Admission Requirements

The application process begins online through the College of Graduate Studies at Tarleton. Applicants must meet the admission requirements of the College of Graduate Studies and Department of Nursing. Find out more information about the admission requirements.

Alternate Entry

Registered nurses with an associate degree or diploma in nursing are invited to apply to the RN to MSN alternate entry option. This option combines earned credits toward the B.S.N. and M.S.N. degrees that are awarded simultaneously upon completion of both programs, and is only offered at the Fort Worth campus.

Program Objectives

At the end of the program the graduate nurse will be able to:

  • Integrate findings and theories from nursing science and related disciplines to lead the continued improvement of nursing care across diverse settings.
  • Provide flexible leadership and inter/intra professional colaboration in complex and ever-changing healthcare and educational systems to safely achieve quality educational outcomes.
  • Ethically conduct and/or use research which contributes to the development of nursing science.
  • Effectively use technology, tools, assessment instruments, and other resources to improve educational outcomes.
