Executive Communications

Tarleton State University’s Master of Science (M.S.) in Management with a concentration in Executive Communication explores how executives communicate effectively within organizations as well as externally with public stakeholders. Students expand their knowledge of executive level management and refine their written and verbal communication abilities for use in professional settings.

Executive Communication Curriculum

The Executive Communication program provides a comprehensive overview of essential communication and writing topics, and is an ideal fit for individuals with a bachelor’s degree in English, journalism, or communications, as well as those with strong writing skills and an interest in organizational management. 

The curriculum trains students in executive-level, culturally sensitive professional writing and editing. Students are exposed to concepts of rhetoric and ethics as well, deepening their understanding of how different forms of communication can be utilized as powerful tools for shaping internal and external perceptions of an organization.

Executive Communication courses are offered entirely online, providing flexibility to busy working professionals. Many courses are available in either 8-week or 16-week formats, allowing for the program to be completed in as little as 12 months.

Master’s in Management Core Courses

Designed for professionals seeking career advancement through specialization, the M.S. in Management degree consists of 18-hours of core coursework in management that build a well-rounded foundation for success. Courses include:

Executive Communication Concentration Coursework

The Executive Communication concentration also includes 18 credit hours of additional coursework that fosters specialization in both verbal and written communication theories.

Program Outcomes

Executive Communication graduates possess the knowledge and skills to design and implement impactful communication strategies. With this foundation, they can offer strategic communication consulting to all levels within an organization, providing job-appropriate tactics and methodologies. 

In particular, students are trained in how essential writing is a competency for executive management team members. Graduates of the program help shape interdisciplinary strategies through the lens of internal and external perceptions, which makes them essential organizational leaders.

Technical Certificate

Graduates of the M.S. in Management Degree with a concentration in Executive Communication will receive Tarleton State University’s Certificate in Technical Communications.
