B.F.A. in Art


A Bachelor of Fine Arts degree in Art provides you with a wide range of opportunities, from earning your Teacher Certification to an emphasis in Digital Media Studies. While participating in the program, you will have the opportunity to study an array of artistic styles in areas of drawing, painting, and digital media. You will also gain some background in certain areas of sculpture, printmaking, digital design, and photography.

Our program offers small class sizes, beautiful facilities with multiple resources, and the opportunity to exhibit your work in the university showroom. In addition, as a student in this program, you will have the opportunity to visit various art galleries and museums in the DFW Metroplex. A faculty of distinguished artists who are dedicated to providing the individual attention you need to develop as a professional artist will guide you throughout your time as an art student.

The Department of Fine Arts sponsors two student exhibits a year - one at the end of each semester. There is also a student-run gallery that is organized by the Tarleton Art Society. In addition to the regular exhibits, student work is displayed in several parts of the building.

Art Gallery

Clyde H. Wells Fine Arts Center

The Department of Fine Arts is largely located in the Clyde H. Wells Fine Arts Center. We host many special events for the campus community including recitals, concerts, music festivals, plays, musicals, and gallery exhibitions, as well as performances and demonstrations by visiting artists. Art Students have the opportunity to share some of their work in two all-student exhibitions in the Gallery.

Tarleton Art Society

Tarleton Art Society

The Tarleton Art Society is a student-run organization that brings together like-minded individuals from various academic disciplines to promote artistic knowledge. Each year there are a wide range of activities hosted by this organization, including fundraisers, mural painting, field trips, and workshops. Brown Bag Lecture

Brown Bag Lectures

Every semester the Department of Fine Arts holds a number of Brown Bag Lectures coinciding with the gallery exhibit during the lunch hour; here, artists visit and lecture about their experiences and work. All are welcome to bring their lunch and learn about our visiting artists' work.
