Peace Officer Tuition Exemption<\/h1>\n\n\n\n

Eligible Texas peace officers may receive an exemption from tuition and laboratory fees for qualifying undergraduate criminal justice courses at Tarleton State University.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Program Overview<\/h2>\n\n\n\n

To encourage persons employed as peace officers to take college courses that can support their careers, the State of Texas provides assistance with tuition and laboratory fees for courses offered as part of a law enforcement-related or criminal justice curriculum.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

At Tarleton State University, the exemption is available for qualifying undergraduate courses that have a CRIJ prefix<\/strong> and apply to the requirements of an eligible criminal justice degree.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\n\t\t\t\t\tExemption Availability Is Limited\n\t\t\t\t<\/h2>\n\n\n\n

\n\t\t\t\t\tTarleton State University may not provide peace officer tuition exemptions to more than 20% of the maximum enrollment<\/strong> in an eligible class.\n\t\t\t\t<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\n\t\t\t\t\tFor example, if a class has a maximum enrollment of 40 students, no more than eight peace officer exemptions may be available for that course.\n\t\t\t\t<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\n\t\t\t\t\tWhen the exemption allocation for a selected course has reached capacity, the Department of Criminal Justice will make a reasonable effort to identify another required course with exemption availability. An alternative course or exemption cannot be guaranteed.\n\t\t\t\t<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n\n\n\n
