Housing Checkout Process

If you have gone through the proper checkout process, meaning that you have completed the checkout packet and turned it in, along with your key, you can expect to see the prorated credit on your Texan Bill within 10 business days.

Your health and safety is our highest priority. To reduce the spread of coronavirus, Tarleton is creating assigned check out times. Residents will receive an email, to their permanent email address, with the subject line “Housing Update – Checkout Process.” The email will instruct those who wish to check out to call their residence hall office between the hours of 8 a.m. and 5 p.m. to sign up for an available checkout time in order to best maintain social distancing and the prevention of the spread of COVID-19.

To support social distancing, each resident will be assigned an appointment time to properly check out of their residence hall. If you are currently on campus and wish to check out, please begin packing your items in preparation for your checkout. Others can arrive 1-2 hours prior to their specific assigned checkout time and report directly to their room to efficiently pack items. Your assigned checkout is the window of time you have to use hall elevators, stairwells and hall doors to remove belongings. Please refrain from using the facility outside of your assigned appointment of time to promote community health and safety. During this process, please adhere to social distancing guidelines by not occupying elevators with others, not crowding common spaces and by maintaining a minimum distance of 6 feet from others.

An Express Checkout Envelope will be provided. Please use the envelope to drop your post office box key as well as any hard room keys or temp cards you have in your possession. Residents who wish to check out should remove all personal belongings from their space, discard trash in provided dumpsters, clean their space and drop off the signed envelope in the provided basket at their hall office prior to leaving the university.  We appreciate your cooperation in adhering to your assigned checkout appointment time. 

Credits/Refunds for Housing and Meal Plan

All Housing and Meal Plan credits will be issued based upon your date of checkout. March 23, 2020 will be the earliest date recognized for any housing or meal plan credits.

Residents will receive a credit for March 23, 2020 through the end of the semester if they complete one of these actions by April 1, 2020:

  • Remove all belongings, return keys, complete proper checkout paperwork

OR

  • Call and schedule your move-out appointment

Residents will receive a prorated credit for the remainder of the semester if they do not complete one of the two actions listed above by April 1, 2020. The proration will be based upon the actual date of move-out.

Students who do not live on campus but do have a meal plan can cancel that plan and receive a credit by emailing Housing@Tarleton.edu . Please include your name, UID and your request to cancel. All cancelations received prior to April 1, 2020 will receive a credit for March 23, 2020 through the end of the semester. Any cancelations receive after April 1, 2020 will be prorated for the remaining days in the semester.

If you are unable to return to campus to remove your belongings, return your key and complete your checkout process at this time, please email Ms. Kelsey Fredrickson at Fredrickson@Tarleton.edu. Please include your name, UID, Residence Hall, Room and a brief explanation of the circumstances preventing you from coming to campus to complete the checkout process.
