Texan Debate

Tarleton State University and the Department of Communication Studies is proud to continue their newly developed program, Texan Debate. In the Spring of 2017, Texan Debate was formed to give Tarleton students a forum to talk about controversial topics that are important in American Society today. Even though we will deal with controversial subjects we disagree on, we will learn to do so with civility, respect and structure.

Speech and Debate Team

With our students excelling in the Texan Debate and a want for a more competitive platform outside of Tarleton Dr. Del Richey, Director of Debates, created the Tarleton Speech and Debate Team. The Speech and Debate Team is still developing but has a great opportunity for the future. This year our small team traveled to Texas Christian University as well as The University of Oklahoma to compete against schools across the southern United States.
