Under the direction of Dr. David Robinson, the 2024\u201325 Tarleton State Wind Ensemble has released Deep Reverberations<\/em>, a new album now available on major streaming platforms. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Released on the VOCE label, the album features six pieces: Clutch<\/em> by Andrew David Perkins; A Deep Reverberation Fills with Stars<\/em> by John Mackey; Adoration<\/em> by Florence Price; Danzas<\/em> by Giovanni Santos; Deir in De<\/em> by Warren Barker; and Xanadu<\/em> by Scott McAllister. The approximately 40-minute recording was designed to showcase a wide variety of composers and musical styles while highlighting the ensemble\u2019s versatility in performance. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cThe motivation behind this album was to respond to our university\u2019s initiative for a higher level of scholarship output from us as faculty,\u201d Robinson said. \u201cFor us that teach in the music field, especially with me as a conductor, this is the sort of project that fits that bill.\u201d <\/p>\n\n\n\n

The album was recorded Nov. 7\u201310, 2024, in the Clyde H. Wells Fine Arts Center Auditorium by the 2024\u201325 Tarleton State Wind Ensemble. The recording process took place over four days, with editing completed by Dr. Vince Kenney of VOCE Recordings in collaboration with Robinson. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cI\u2019m quite proud of the Wind Ensemble for their work on this project,\u201d Robinson said. \u201cThe success of this product was the result of both a ton of preparation by everyone involved and a commitment to a high level of focus in the recording session itself. The process challenged all of us artistically in ways that made us all better musicians.\u201d <\/p>\n\n\n\n

The Wind Ensemble is comprised of 40\u201350 Tarleton State undergraduate students selected annually by audition. While many members are music majors, the ensemble also includes students from a variety of other academic disciplines. The group rehearses approximately four hours per week during the fall and spring semesters. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

The Wind Ensemble performs four full concerts each year in the Clyde H. Wells Fine Arts Center Auditorium and is also recognized within the Tarleton State community for its performances during university commencement ceremonies. Funding for the album was largely supported through ticket sales from these concerts over the past several years. <\/p>\n\n\n\n
