The\u00a0Bosque River Review<\/em>\u00a0celebrated the release of its inaugural edition this April, marking a significant milestone for the\u00a0department of\u00a0English\u00a0and\u00a0languages within the\u00a0College of Liberal and Fine Arts.\u00a0<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cThe Bosque River Review’s first issue is an important moment, as it exemplifies Tarleton State\u2019s emphasis to engage in creative connections on local and international scales.\u201d said Dr. Jacob Brewer, Assistant Professor of English.  \u201cOur students act as editors: they choose the work that will be published. This emphasis on a student-led journal will give students important real-world experience, involve them in the university, and create community in the department and college.\u201d <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Launched by the\u00a0department of\u00a0English\u00a0and\u00a0languages, the\u00a0Bosque River Review<\/em>\u00a0was developed by co-advisors and editors Jacob\u00a0Brewer, Megan\u00a0Cline\u00a0and Walter Moore in collaboration with a team of student editors.\u00a0\u00a0<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The publication welcomes writers from Tarleton State students and the broader community and is available in both print and online formats. The journal, named for the 104-mile river originating in Stephenville, Texas, features undergraduate editors who curate and publish submitted work in prose, poetry and visual arts. It welcomes writers of all experience levels and highlights creative work across genres. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

The inaugural edition highlights the depth of student creativity across disciplines while offering hands-on experience in editing, design and publication. As part of the publication, one Tarleton State student is selected for the William B. Martin Award for Writing Excellence, which includes a $500 monetary award and featured publication in the journal. For the 2026 inaugural edition, Zeina Halili received this honor. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

The milestone was recognized during the Bosque River Review Literary and Arts Journal Launch Party on April 27, 2026 at the Clyde H. Wells Fine Arts Center Art Gallery, where students, faculty and guests gathered to celebrate the publication. The event featured readings from graduating senior editors, the official presentation of the journal\u2019s first edition and a reception with food provided. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

The Bosque River Review<\/em> represents a new platform for student voices and creative expression, further reinforcing our commitment to experiential learning and the arts. <\/p>\n\n\n\n
