The Faculty Excellence in Scholarship Award was established in 2003 to recognize a Tarleton State University faculty member who has shown exemplary performance scholarly or creative activities.

Award Criteria
Eligibility Criteria
- Evidence of exceptional scholarly or creative work within the field;
- Three years of service at Tarleton State University;
- Full-time faculty appointment or administrator holding a joint faculty appointment; and
- Must not have received this award within the past three years.
University Criteria (Minimum Criteria for COBA)
Evidence of scholarly or creative activity includes:
- Authored books and/or journal articles;
- Authored monographs or book chapters;
- Scholarly paper presentations of conducted or published research;
- Collaborative research involving faculty and/or student colleagues;
- State, national, international level seminars, workshops; and
- Shows, recitals, recordings, or musical performances, or lighting, set, or costume design.
Additional Criteria
Additional consideration will be given to nominees with the following:
- continuous record of refereed publications (not all in a year or two), Cabell’s listed journal or other widely circulated database, first author led research, faculty should avoid the concept of “double-dipping” and show progression of research with a variety of intellectual contributions;
- research presentations at regional, national or international level academic conferences;
- leadership in research societies, serving on an editorial board, executive board involvement in research societies or publications, inter-disciplinary research, grant writing, consistent involvement of students in faculty research; and
- Practice Academics (PA) sustain currency and relevance through professional engagement, interaction, and relevant activities.
