Tarleton State University proudly honors Dr. Ted Ford, a cornerstone of the institution\u2019s College of Agriculture and Natural Resources, as he retires after an extraordinary career spanning more than five decades. Dr. Ford\u2019s profound contributions as an educator, mentor, and leader have left a lasting legacy at Tarleton and within the broader agricultural community.<\/p>\n<\/div><\/div>\n\n\n\n

Dr. Ford joined Tarleton in 1974 after earning a bachelor\u2019s and master\u2019s in Agricultural Education from Tarleton State and a Ph.D. in Vocational Education from Texas A&M University. Over the years, he held roles ranging from instructor to professor and served as Associate Dean for the College of Agriculture and Human Sciences. His tenure was marked by numerous accolades, including the Dick Smith Teaching Award and the Presidential Award of Merit, recognizing his excellence in teaching and service.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Throughout his career, Dr. Ford has been a dedicated advocate for agricultural education. He played a pivotal role in organizing Tarleton\u2019s statewide FFA Invitational Career Development Events, the largest of their kind in the nation. His leadership in this and other FFA initiatives earned him the Lone Star and American Honorary Degrees, the Texas FFA Distinguished Service Award, and the Blue & Gold Award.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Beyond the classroom, Dr. Ford\u2019s impact extended to his community and the agricultural industry. He served as superintendent and director for the Fort Worth Stock Show and Rodeo, the State Fair of Texas, and the Houston Livestock Show and Rodeo. Locally, he has been a valued member of Cornerstone Church and contributed to organizations such as the Lingleville ISD Board, the Erath County Appraisal Board, and the Stephenville Chamber of Commerce.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Dr. Ford\u2019s remarkable career is a testament to his passion for education and agriculture. As the university bids him farewell, it extends heartfelt gratitude and best wishes for his well-deserved retirement.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
