Tarleton State University\u2019s Meat Judging Program continues to see growth, indicating no sign of slowing down! This fall, the 2023 Tarleton State Meat Judging Team crossed multiple state lines to compete at three meat judging contests put on by the American Meat Science Association.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 Team members included on this year\u2019s team are Isabell Cranfill from Hondo, TX, Kate Hayett from Enumclaw, WA, Macie McMillion from Abilene, TX, Madison Montgomery from Waynesboro, VA, and Shane Menz from The Colony, TX. Coached by Andrew Cano with Dr. Drew Cassens as Coordinator and Taylor Beasley as Assistant Coach.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Following their summer break, TSUMJT 2023 competed at the American Royal at Nebraska Beef in Omaha, NE. Next, the Texans traveled to Fiona, TX to compete in the Cargill High Plains Contest where the team placed 5th<\/sup> in Beef Grading and team member, Isabell Cranfill placed 7th<\/sup> in Total Placings and received a perfect score in Specifications (14th<\/sup> place). Team member, Kate Hayett, placed 9th<\/sup> in Beef Grading and 6th<\/sup> in Specifications with another perfect score. Lastly, the AMSA International Intercollegiate Meat Judging Contest was held in Sioux City, NE where the team placed 10th<\/sup> Overall.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The hard work and dedication that it takes to compete on a meat judging team is honorable and does not go unnoticed and all the members of this team have done Tarleton proud.
