Students are involved in every step of the preparation process and develop a better understanding of equine behavior through training. The class includes marketing on a variety of platforms, exercise programs, proper nutrition prior to a sale, and ground work on a lead line and in the round pen.

Bobbie Walton, class instructor and director of the Equine Center, said the class is designed with student learning and success in mind.

“It’s very hands-on,” Walton said. “It’s not me doing [the training] and then just having the students come and clean stalls. The students are involved in every part of it.”

The yearlings were bred, born, raised, and trained at the Equine Center. Students take party in every stage of development including equine reproduction, halter-breaking, and sales prep and management.

“My favorite part of all of it is watching the growth of the students and the education they get out of it,” Walton said.

Tarleton will offer three yearlings that will sell on Oct. 28.

The first is TSU Bet Shesa Nic.
