Digital accessibility ensures that everyone, including people with disabilities, can access and use digital content and services. The recent Title II revision, known as the Final Rule and approved by the Department of Justice, requires compliance with the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) 2.1 Level AA accessibility standards. All web content and mobile applications must be in compliance by April 24, 2026. Please note that the Texas A&M University System (TAMUS) is adopting the newer WCAG 2.2 standards. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

This means that instructional materials\u2014such as websites, online documents, videos, Canvas Courses, and interactive tools\u2014should be designed for all users, including those using assistive technologies (screen readers, screen magnifiers, etc.). <\/p>\n\n\n\n The faculty should ensure that course materials, including PDFs, slides, and multimedia, adhere to these guidelines to provide equivalent access to students with disabilities. <\/p>\n\n\n\n Anthology Ally is an AI-powered accessibility tool that integrates into the Canvas Learning Management System (LMS). This tool helps faculty easily identify and correct digital content accessibility issues by providing step-by-step guidance. In addition, it also generates alternative formats for students to improve and support various learning needs. <\/p>\n\n\n\n Tarleton has the Ally Accessibility Tool integrated into Canvas. Accessibility scores and instructor feedback for new uploads continue to experience delays. \u00a0Processing times may be affected by the size and volume of content being updated at once. \u00a0All other Ally features, including alternative formats and previously processed content, continue to function normally.
