ACUE at Tarleton<\/h2>\n\n\n\n

Tarleton State University faculty are provided the opportunity to participate in courses offered by the Association of College and University Educators (ACUE) that promote evidence-based teaching practices proven to enhance student success. Courses are locally facilitated by a selection of esteemed Tarleton faculty who have successfully completed the courses.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Supported by the Texas A&M University System’s Scaling Instructional Excellence for Student Success initiative, this program provides Tarleton State faculty with opportunities to participate in professional development courses through a partnership with the Association of College and University Educators (ACUE). Led by Dr. James Hallmark, TAMUS Vice Chancellor for Academic Affairs, and Dr. Shonda Gibson, TAMUS Associate Vice Chancellor for Academic Affairs, this initiative aims to impact student success across the System via teaching excellence.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Micro Course – Designing Learner-Centered Courses<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

Begins on May 18, 2026<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Ends on July 5, 2026<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Access to the course is available as early as May 7, 2026.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Delivery Format<\/h3>\n\n\n\n

ACUE courses are primarily delivered asynchronously online through the ACUE Canvas learning management system. Most require approximately 2-3 hours\/week to complete learning activities and online discussions.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Course Length<\/h3>\n\n\n\n

ACUE offers 7- to 8-week micro-courses as well as 25-week options that compress four of the micro-courses together. Faculty who complete the 25-week Effective Teaching or Effective Online Teaching Practices course (or the micro-courses that comprise them) receive an ACUE certification, endorsed by the American Council on Education. Additional micro-courses of varying lengths may be offered in addition to the certification pathway.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Upon Completion<\/h3>\n\n\n\n

Faculty who complete the ACUE certification receive a small honorarium from Academic Affairs, pending availability of funds.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
