The Center for Educational Excellence has the opportunity to provide funding to offset students’ expenses for course-embedded experiential travel opportunities within the United States for the Spring and Summer 2022 semesters.

Instructors should consider the following when planning a Study Away trip:

  • Course objectives
  • Location
  • Duration and dates
  • Contingency plan in the event of cancellation/modification
  • Budget
    • Accommodations
    • Dining
    • Transportation
    • Event registration fees (if applicable)
    • Incidentals

Processes for Faculty to Initiate a Study Away Experience

Tarleton Student Travel Registration

Required of all University-sanctioned student travel, this process includes trip registration (to be completed by the instructor alongside the college’s Student Travel System designee) and a trip profile/waiver to be completed by all travelers.

Travel Approval Request

This process is required of all proposed University travel as a part of Tarleton’s COVID-19 response. Instructors will be required to submit a travel approval form for approve by their department head, dean, and Academic Affairs.

Study U.S. Grant (optional)

Instructors have the opportunity to apply for funding to offset travel expenses for domestic Study Away trips in Spring and Summer 2022. The application will be made available here soon.

Applied Learning Experience (ALE) Designation

Instructors can also apply for a Study Away trip to count as an ALE to help students work toward earning a cord for graduation. Students will be required to submit a reflection assignment and an artifact to earn ALE credit.
