Images & Multimedia

Given the flat design applied to our website, our content is vitally important. Images and videos provide the most color to our website and become the focus on any page. Since they are our most engaging content, it is of the utmost importance that we provide the highest quality images on our website.

All images must be compliant with University rules and policies; and all applicable contracts and license. Examples include, but are not limited to, the laws of accessibility, privacy, copyright, and trademark.

Types of Graphics

  • Images: We have specific dimensions for graphics for each module, so they display well and correctly on all device screen sizes.
    • Photos: The most important and common type of image the website implements comes almost directly from a camera.
    • Graphics: Graphics can be a combination of photography and additional elements or styles that must be consistent with the overall design of the Tarleton website. For example,
      • graphics used in the Spotlight module on the Tarleton homepage use flat blocks of color with white text similar to the text on slideshows. Images are finalized in Web Services to keep consistency in the overall design and tone.
      • graphics used in the Statistics module use flat color and simplified, or iconic, imagery as opposed to photography. Images are finalized in Web Services to keep consistency in the overall design and tone.
  • Buttons: These are large flat blocks of color typically with white text and optionally with icons within an approved set installed by default in the overall design of the Tarleton website (including icons for social media). These are not images of logos of supporting or sponsoring programs. They are implemented in a different manner than regular graphics and are only available in specific modules.
  • Logos: These graphics are the least used due to their limited flexibility on a responsive/squishy design and their ability to take away from our goal that content be engaging and relationship building. Any usage of logo graphics must be approved by Marketing & Communications before inclusion on a Tarleton website due to their need for strategic placement on a web page.
  • Videos: Videos are some of the most engaging web content. We have specific dimensions for graphics for each module, so they display well and correctly on all device screen sizes. If you create a video or request Marketing and Communications to assist, make sure the video complies with all University rules and policies to ensure Web Services can quickly embed it on your website.
