Social Media Graphics

Social media links and icons are available for use in the Social Media Panel module for the Stacked template and the Social Media Block for the Right Navigation template.

No social media may be added without the approval of the Social Media Coordinator first. Learn more about acceptable social media platforms and usage standards on the Marketing & Communications University Brand Guide.

Current Social Media Platform (Icon) Set

Using the icon set built into the Tarleton website, the only social media options available for including as a link are the ones listed here:

  • Amazon
  • blogger
  • Facebook
  • Flickr
  • Foursquare
  • Google
  • Instagram
  • Linkedin
  • Photobucket
  • podcast
  • Pinterest
  • rss
  • slideshare
  • Soundcloud
  • Twitter
  • Ustream
  • video
  • YouTube

Tarleton uses WP SVG Icons for consistency of style, and Web Services will update it as new icons are added.

Social Media Links

Web Services require clean web address links for social media submission onto the website (after approval by the Social Media Coordinator). For example,

  • Remove the 's' in "https" for submission:
    • When accessing a Facebook Page, you'll get a link like https://www.facebook.com/tarletonstate. Change it to http://www.facebook.com/tarletonstate
    • When accessing a Twitter Profile, you'll get a link like https://twitter.com/tarletonstate. Change it to http://twitter.com/tarletonstate
  • Determine if the web address can be shortened:
    • Some old Facebook Page links come up like http://www.facebook.com/pages/Texas-Social-Media-Research-Institute-TSMRI/242493505785404, however, they should now be more simplified links like http://www.facebook.com/TSMRI
    • Sometimes a Facebook Page will show extra code like https://www.facebook.com/Grassburr?ref=br_tf, so you would remove the extra code, especially if there are # signs, like http://www.facebook.com/Grassburr
