Tarleton students and alumni: We make every attempt to screen out fraudulent employers from ever posting in Handshake. However, despite our thorough efforts, deceptive people are still able to post seemingly legitimate positions. As soon as we have evidence that an employer is not legitimate, we immediately remove their job and login capabilities.

If ever you have questions about an employer/contact/position in Handshake, do not hesitate to call us at 254.968.9078. Often times, cautious students/alumni like you, actually make the greatest impact in this fight.

Beware of these Fraudulent Employers

There have been several attempts in the Fall of 2018 and Spring of 2019 to gain students information. These have been attempts OUTSIDE of Handshake. The emails appear to come from the “Job Placement Department” which is NOT a department with campus. All departments on campus are @Tarleton and not @go.Tarleton.edu. If you see any of these emails please send information to [email protected]. Follow These Steps, if you feel you have been a victim fraud:

  1. Make copies/ screen shots of all documents and correspondence
  2. Contact Career Services at: [email protected]
  3. Contact University PD and CIO Rick Woodson
  4. If you have given any personal information- especially bank information- contact your Financial Institution and Local (hometown) Police Department
