{"id":863,"date":"2022-06-02T17:55:41","date_gmt":"2022-06-02T17:55:41","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/web.tarleton.edu\/calendar-tutorial\/?page_id=863"},"modified":"2024-08-14T14:53:09","modified_gmt":"2024-08-14T14:53:09","slug":"calendar-views","status":"publish","type":"page","link":"https:\/\/www.tarleton.edu\/calendar-tutorial\/calendar-views\/","title":{"rendered":"Calendar Views"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p>A calendar view is (a) the way the events are displayed on a page and (b) the criteria for displaying events.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<div style=\"height:15px\" aria-hidden=\"true\" class=\"wp-block-spacer\"><\/div>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">How events are displayed<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>This system allows us to display events on our old and new, responsive template pages in a variety of ways.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Our most common displays are<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Calendar listings: these have the search bar, options to filter by categories\/tags\/day\/week\/month\/all, and they list out all the events with an option to show 50 more<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Event listings: these are embedded into departmental websites with the top 6 or so upcoming events and often link to the calendar listings for the full list of events<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p>However, we can certainly create more specialized displays such as<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Office hours \/ Hours of operation: these may display events specific to that day&#8217;s event listing only<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Archived events: these allow you to display past events that you want your audience to be able to review<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<div style=\"height:15px\" aria-hidden=\"true\" class=\"wp-block-spacer\"><\/div>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">What criteria can be used to display events<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>The flexibility of the LiveWhale calendar system allows us to do a lot of amazing things. For example,<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Display your department&#8217;s events: by default, your calendar group has all your events which can be displayed<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Display events specific to an audience: filter the events down by event type (or category) such as\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Audience (e.g. Students, Faculty, Alumni, General Public, Parents)<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Location (e.g. Stephenville, Fort Worth, Waco)<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Event type (e.g. Arts and Entertainment, Lectures and Speakers, Deadlines)<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Display events specific to a program, series, or conference: filter events down by a tag<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p><a href=\"mailto:webmaster@tarleton.edu\" data-type=\"mailto\" data-id=\"mailto:webmaster@tarleton.edu\">Contact University Web Operations <\/a>about a custom calendar view for your events.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>A calendar view is (a) the way the events are displayed on a page and (b) the criteria for displaying events.
