Each year, thousands of students around the world begin graduate programs. Each driven by different motivations, but united by the same end goal.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

For Tarleton State Texan Randy Rogers, inspiration came from someone close to home his daughter, Ryleigh, whom he supported every step of the way on her journey, and who, in turn, inspired his own.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cThe biggest reason I chose to pursue graduate school was my daughter, Ryleigh. Watching her earn both her bachelor\u2019s and master\u2019s degrees in just three and a half years, at only 21 years old, was truly remarkable. Her discipline, focus, and determination made a lasting impression on me. She set high goals and followed through, no matter how challenging the journey became.\u201d 
<\/p>\n<\/div><\/div>\n\n\n\n

<\/div>\n\n\n\n

Though going back to school was always in the back of Rogers\u2019 mind, it wasn\u2019t until he witnessed his daughters’ perseverance that he was truly moved to continue his education. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cShe did more than inspire me from a distance. She encouraged me directly, and that support meant a great deal.<\/em><\/strong> At this stage in life, going back to school can feel uncertain, but her belief in me helped shift my perspective. I stopped questioning whether I could do it and started focusing on following through. Pursuing graduate school became more than an academic goal. It became a personal commitment to growth and a reminder that it is never too late to continue learning. In many ways, the roles were reversed, and my daughter became a source of motivation for me, which has made this journey even more meaningful. As a father, I wanted to make her proud<\/em><\/strong>,\u201d Rogers said. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

From Ryleigh, To Randy <\/em><\/strong><\/h3>\n\n\n\n
<\/div>\n\n\n\n

\u201cDad, I know you always say that I was your inspiration to keep pushing and finally earn your Master\u2019s degree, but the truth is, you\u2019ve always been mine. You are the man I\u2019ve looked up to in everything I do. <\/strong>Your determination, work ethic, strength, and the way you continue to chase your goals no matter the obstacles have shaped the person I am today. Watching you never give up taught me what perseverance really looks like. You didn\u2019t just tell me to dream big, you showed me how.<\/strong> Every accomplishment I reach carries pieces of the lessons you taught me along the way. I hope you know how proud I am of you, not just for earning your degree, but for being the kind of father who inspires everyone around him simply by the way he lives his life. <\/strong>I\u2019ll always be grateful to call you my dad. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Navigating both parenthood and his education, all while working a full-time job, Rogers found that the key to success was balance and focus. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

By being intentional with his time and energy, all while understanding that graduate school comes with unexpected highs and lows, Rogers was able to persevere through it all to succeed. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cFocus is just as important. When it is time to work, be fully present at work. When it is time for school, eliminate distractions and commit to getting it done. And when you are with your family, be there mentally, not just physically. Staying focused in each moment helps you make the most of the limited time you have. For me, consistently coming back to these two principles helped me stay organized, reduce stress, and keep making progress. It is not always easy, but with balance and focus, it is absolutely doable,\u201d Rogers said. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Despite the long hours and relentless effort he poured into his graduate school journey, Rogers credits his success to the unwavering support of his family.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cIf there is one additional thing I would share, it is how important my family has been throughout this journey. My daughter was truly my inspiration. Watching her accomplishments and the way she pushed herself gave me the motivation to pursue my own goals.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

At the same time, my wife has been my rock in every sense of the word. She supported me from the very beginning, even when going back to school felt uncertain. She believed in me when I questioned whether I could take this on, and that belief gave me confidence to move forward. Throughout the process, she consistently encouraged me to stay focused and keep going, especially during the more stressful moments.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

What stands out most is the way she stepped up at home. She took on additional responsibilities without hesitation, allowing me the time and space I needed to focus on school while still balancing work. Those sacrifices did not go unnoticed. She carried more than her share so I could stay committed to finishing what I started.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

More than anything, she was a steady source of support, patience, and understanding. No matter how busy or overwhelming things became, she was always there, reminding me why I started and helping me stay grounded. I truly could not have done this without her.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

This accomplishment is not just mine. It is something we achieved together as a family,\u201d Rogers said. <\/em><\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n
