David Robinson<\/strong> is Director of Bands and Associate Professor of Music at Tarleton State University in Stephenville, Texas. Appointed in 2018, he guides the Tarleton instrumental music program, teaches courses in conducting and the music education sequence, and serves as conductor of the Tarleton Wind Ensemble, the University Band, and the pit orchestra of the annual Tarleton musical production. Previously, Robinson served as Director of Bands at McMurry University in Abilene, Texas.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Active as a conductor and clinician around the country, Robinson’s ensembles have performed at Carnegie Hall, the London New Year’s Day Parade, and at the Texas Music Education Association Convention. The Tarleton Wind Ensemble’s 2021 invitation to perform at the TMEA state convention was the first invited convention performance in university history. From 2009 to 2012, Robinson served as assistant conductor of the Dallas-based Lone Star Wind Orchestra.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Robinson holds the Doctor of Musical Arts degree in Wind Conducting from the University of North Texas, where he was the conducting student of Eugene Migliaro Corporon and a teaching fellow in the world-renowned Wind Studies program. He also holds the Master of Music degree in Wind Band Conducting from the University of Missouri, where he was a member of the MTNA national chamber music finalist Contreras Saxophone Quartet.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

A native of the state of Arkansas, Robinson holds the Bachelor of Music Education degree from Arkansas State University. His secondary teaching experience includes positions with the Jonesboro and Wynne public schools systems of that state. During his tenure in Arkansas, he served as region chair and board member with the Arkansas State Band and Orchestra Association and his ensembles in both school systems received sweepstakes designations.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Robinson is also active as a composer, performer, and author. His saxophone quartet, Fantasy on St. James<\/em>, was commissioned for and premiered by the Marion (AR) High School Saxophone Quartet at the 2005 American School Band Directors Association\u2019s national convention. He was a contributing author to Volumes 7, 8, 9, 11, and 12 of the Teaching Music Through Performance in Band<\/em> series and served as recording editor for Teaching Music Through Performance in and: Solos with Wind and Accompaniment<\/em>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

His professional affiliations include memberships in the College Band Directors National Association, the Texas Music Educators Association, the Texas Bandmasters Association, and Pi Kappa Lambda National Music Honor Society, as well as honorary memberships in Kappa Kappa Psi and Phi Mu Alpha Sinfonia.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
