Band Ensemble Auditions

Beginning with the Fall 2021 semester, the Tarleton band program will expand its offering of ensembles. Concert ensembles will now include the Wind Ensemble, the Symphonic Band (now both fall and spring), and the University Band (spring only). Jazz ensembles will now include Jazz Ensemble I, Jazz Ensemble II, and Jazz Ensemble III. Placement in Wind Ensemble and all three jazz ensembles is by audition only. Auditions are held only at the beginning of each fall semester.

Auditions for these ensembles for 2021-22 will take place the first two days of the fall semester, Thursday, August 19 and Friday, August 20, during the afternoon and evening hours. Audition information, times, and scheduling can be found using the links below.

2021-22 Wind Ensemble Auditions

Auditions for Wind Ensemble will consist only of prepared music from the packets below. There will be no separate audition for Symphonic Band this year though those interested in Symphonic Band are highly encouraged to audition as the 2020 band was made up almost exclusively of students who auditioned.

Those placing into the Wind Ensemble will retain their seating into the spring semester. Those auditioning for and not placing into the Wind Ensemble will receive priority seating in the Symphonic Band. Any vacancies in the Wind Ensemble throughout the year will be filled from the membership in Symphonic Band in chair order.
