
High School Applicants
Students graduating from a Texas public high school accredited by the Texas Education Agency, a Texas non-public school accredited by the Texas Private School Accreditation Commission, or an out-of-state public or private high school.
What You Need to Apply
- Tarleton Admission Application
Applicant type: Freshman - A U.S. $50 non-refundable application fee
- Official high school transcript
- Official SAT or ACT test scores (test score optional)
- Any other items requested by the Office of Undergraduate Admissions based on application answers
Effective Spring 2020 forward: Official SAT and ACT test scores must be sent directly from the testing agency. Tarleton will not accept test scores from the high school. Tarleton’s SAT code is 6817. Tarleton’s ACT code is 4204.

SAT/ACT scores are not required for an admission decision but encouraged for those seeking scholarships. For students being considered for admission under individual review, ACT/SAT scores could assist in the decision process.
Early Admission Consideration
Students who rank in the top 50% and have completed their junior year may submit an official high school transcript for early admission consideration.
High School Curriculum Requirements
Tarleton requires successful completion of the Distinguished Level of Achievement under the Foundation High School Program (Foundation with an Endorsement including Algebra II).
The Foundation with an Endorsement without Algebra II may be considered under an individual review process.
- Old SAT total consists of Critical Reading (Verbal) + Math only. New SAT total (March 2016 forward) consists of Evidence Based Reading and Writing + Math.
- The writing component can be submitted but it is not required.
- Applicants not meeting requirements for guaranteed admission may be reviewed on an individual basis.

Dual Credit
Students must request their official dual credit transcript(s) be sent to us. Dual credit is only awarded from the official college transcript.
