{"id":841,"date":"2022-05-19T15:28:35","date_gmt":"2022-05-19T15:28:35","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/web.tarleton.edu\/accessibility\/?page_id=841"},"modified":"2024-10-25T21:51:06","modified_gmt":"2024-10-25T21:51:06","slug":"state-laws-and-regulations","status":"publish","type":"page","link":"https:\/\/www.tarleton.edu\/accessibility\/state-laws-and-regulations\/","title":{"rendered":"State Laws and Regulations"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p>The Texas Commission on Human Rights Act (1983) prohibits discrimination because of race, color, religion, sex, national origin, age, genetic information, and disability.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>This law, as well as&nbsp;<a href=\"http:\/\/texreg.sos.state.tx.us\/public\/readtac$ext.TacPage?sl=R&amp;app=9&amp;p_dir=&amp;p_rloc=&amp;p_tloc=&amp;p_ploc=&amp;pg=1&amp;p_tac=&amp;ti=1&amp;pt=10&amp;ch=206&amp;rl=70\">1 TAC 206<\/a>,&nbsp;<a href=\"http:\/\/texreg.sos.state.tx.us\/public\/readtac$ext.ViewTAC?tac_view=5&amp;ti=1&amp;pt=10&amp;ch=213&amp;sch=C&amp;rl=Y\">1 TAC 213<\/a>, and&nbsp;<a href=\"http:\/\/www.statutes.legis.state.tx.us\/Docs\/GV\/htm\/GV.2054.htm\">10 TGC 2054.451<\/a>, apply to The Texas A&amp;M University System because our programs and activities receive state funding:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>1 TAC 213 includes the accessibility standards for all electronic and information resources (EIR) for institutions of higher education<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>1 TAC 206 is the accessibility standards for web content<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>10 TGC 2054.451 ensures\u00a0institutions of higher education provide all users, no matter their ability, access to and use of electronic and information resources<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">DAO Accessibility Coordinator (DAO AC)<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/texreg.sos.state.tx.us\/public\/readtac$ext.TacPage?sl=R&amp;app=9&amp;p_dir=&amp;p_rloc=&amp;p_tloc=&amp;p_ploc=&amp;pg=1&amp;p_tac=&amp;ti=1&amp;pt=10&amp;ch=213&amp;rl=41\">1 TAC 213.14<\/a>\u00a0created the DAO AC to ensure each agency and institution of higher education complies with Texas EIR Accessibility statutes and rules to provide accessibility.
