Devin Maness

It’s coming after you; you can feel its presence at your back. You want to look back, but you know once your eyes catch sight of it, fear will grab hold and paralyze you like an animal in the headlights of an eighteen-wheeler. you’re running down a dark hall, and the flash of the strobe light burns your eyes. You head the sound of your pounding heart, like a thunderstorm inside your head. There’s a crunching sound coming from under your feet, as if you’re running on a floor of cockroaches. You look down, shards of broken glass cover the floor, and the pain from your feet makes you aware of the fact that you’re not wearing any shoes.
