Message from the Dean
Welcome to the website for the College of Education at Tarleton State University. I invite you to explore this website to find out more about the faculty, students, programs and partnerships that are part of the College of Education. Our college is home to four departments: Curriculum and Instruction, Educational Leadership and Policy Studies, Kinesiology, and Psychology and Counseling. We currently offer 11 baccalaureate and master’s degrees with a variety of options and one doctoral degree, the Ed.D. in Educational Administration. We also provide a broad range of educator certification programs, both traditional and alternative.
The College of Education believes in accountability and embraces continuous improvement. We are held accountable to standards by the Texas legislature. Tarleton is accredited by the Southern Association of Colleges and Schools (SACS) and our Teacher Education Program is approved by the Texas Education Agency (TEA), the State Board for Educator Certification (SBEC), and the Texas Higher Education Coordinating Board (THECB). Graduates of our teacher education program are well-prepared to be successful in the classroom and our pass rate on state educator certification exams is 99%.
The College of Education began as a Department of Education at Tarleton State College in 1967 and has a rich history of excellence in teaching and learning. The future is bright for the College as we maintain high quality programs focusing on student success while seeking new opportunities in teaching, scholarship, and service.
