Either faculty members or Department Heads can submit existing courses for WI approval. Be sure that your Department Head and your department’s two Curriculum Committee members know when you are sending a Writing Intensive course through the curriculum process. They will be notified that a Writing Intensive course is ready for their approval.
When you are ready to send your Writing Intensive course through the curriculum process for WI designation and approval, (1) save and complete the two WI pdf forms you will find inside the Electronic Curriculum Managements System, and then (2) complete the steps you will find for creating a new curriculum item. Finally, (3) meet with the WIP Committee for conferal of WI Faculty Endorsement.

When a course completes this approval process, its WI designation is good for three years.
(3) To receive WI Faculty Endorsement:
In addition to course WI designation, faculty members teaching WI courses will need to achieve WI endorsement from the WIP Committee to achieve the statue of WI Faculty. Using the WI Course Information Form, these faculty members will provide information to the WIP Committee about their course, the kinds of their writing assignments they will make and the feedback they will provide. This endorsement process will also include a meeting between the faculty member, the Director of the WIP, and the faculty member's college representative on the WIP Committee.
