XXAdvising Students about Writing Intensive Courses
Beginning with the entering class Fall 2007, all new students must complete Tarleton’s Writing Intensive Program requirements as a condition for the baccalaureate degree.
New Students, Fall 2007:
New students are those who enter Tarleton in fall 2007 as
-
first-time freshmen (students with with no college credits),
-
entering students with 29 hours or less through earned credit (credit through AP, CLEP, IB, or dual credit courses), and
-
transfer students with 29 hours or less transfer credit hours
Other Students:
All other students—returning Tarleton students, transfer students the 30 hours or more, students with earned credits of 30 hours or more—will still be required to take the Writing Proficiency Exam.
Catalogue Course Designation Language:
A "WI" next to a course in the course catalog indicates that this course can fulfill a writing-intensive requirement. Departments will designate specific sections of such courses as writing-intensive. Sections of writing-intensive courses are not indicated in this catalog. Students should check the section comments in Banner when registering. Students scheduling their courses in Banner can also conduct a search for courses with the attribute "WI" to bring up a list of all writing-intensive courses available that term.
