BS - Accounting

Program Description

The Bachelor of Science degree in Accounting is a 128 hour degree program consisting of university core courses, 39 hours of accounting and additional hours in general business. It is important to note that students preparing to become certified public accountants (CPA) must meet the requirements of the Public Accountancy Act of 1991. This act requires completion of 150 semester credit hours of recognized courses before taking the CPA exam. The 128 hours of courses included in the BS in Accounting are accepted toward the 150 hour requirement. For the remainder of the hours toward the 150 hours, students are encouraged to complete the MBA degree, or at a minimum CIS 511, FIN 507, MKTG 508, MGMT 501, 511 or 568 and additional advisor recommended graduate electives to bring the total hours to 150.
