Teacher Salaries and Benefits
Sample Beginning Teacher Salaries

Teacher salaries are based on a ten month contract, but the salary may be paid over ten or twelve months. Teachers may receive additional pay for extracurricular activities. Teachers with an advanced degree in education may receive incentives in the form of higher salaries and bonuses. Salaries tend to be higher in large and/or urban school districts.
School district benefits usually include health insurance, dental insurance and long-term disability insurance. All Texas public school teachers belong to the Teacher Retirement System of Texas..
