To date, 247 teachers have attended Tarleton's Beginning Mentor Teacher Academy. The professional development they received included training in mentoring and coaching, an overview of Tarleton's Teacher Education Program, and a workshop on technology and curriculum integration. Many teachers returned for a second or third summer of advanced training. By participating in the Mentor Teacher Academy, these teachers have made an important commitment and have demonstrated their interest in working with future teachers. Mentor Teachers provide excellent field experience placements for Tarleton students preparing to become teachers.
