The Barry B. Thompson Service Award is given annually to a faculty member for his/her contributions to student-faculty relations outside the classroom. Only full time faculty members whose primary responsibility is teaching are eligible for the award. The award is presented at the Fall Commencement Exercises each year which includes $1000 and an appropriate memento. A selection committee comprised of two faculty, two students, and two
staff will be appointed each year by the Vice President of Student Services
to secure nominations and select the winner. One of the faculty will be
a former recipient of the award. The committee recommends a
list of three nominees in either alphabetical or priority order.
The Chair will then forward the committee's recommendation to the Vice
President of Student Services and the Vice President of Academic Affairs
along with a list of all faculty who were nominated. The President
of the University then selects the winner of the Barry B. Thompson Service
Award from the three recommended nominees.
