Supplemental Instruction (SI)
 

For Sanderford's Biology 120-010

SI is time set aside for students who have successfully completed the course to help you do the same. Overall, it reflects an effort by the university to help you in courses that have been traditionally difficult for many students. The job of your SI leader is to help you better understand the subject. Your leader may use a variety of teaching techniques that present the material in a different way than you heard from me or read about it in the book. Your leader is also there to answer questions. There is no requirement to attend SI, however, statistics show that those who regularly attend SI score about one letter grade higher in the course than those who do not take adventage of this opportunity. Traditionally, almost one-third of students in freshman biology earn a failing grade. I encourage you to start attending SI now.
