GREEN TO GOLD PROGRAM
Eligibility/Application Procedures

1. You may be discharged for the purpose of entry into the Advanced Course of the Senior ROTC program as a non-scholarship cadet or as a two, three or four year scholarship cadet provided you meet the following requirements:

            a. NONSCHOLARSHIP APPLICANT

1. Be less than 35 years of age upon commissioning (waiverable up to age 39).
2. Have at least a cumulative GPA of 2.5 on a 4.0 scale.
3. Have a GT score of 110 or higher.
4. Be accepted into a four-year degree granting university as an academic junior (i.e. a minimum of 60 credit hours). This University must offer ROTC as a host school or be cross-enrolled with a host school.

            b. SCHOLARSHIP APPLICANT  

1. Be less than 30 years of age on 31 December of the year you are commissioned. Age limit can be extended for each full year of active service, up to three years (max age 29 years, 11 months and 29 days).
2. Have at least a cumulative GPA of 2.5 on a 4.0 scale for two and three year scholarships. Both three and four year scholarship applicants must be high school graduate equivalents and have a minimum SAT of 920 or ACT of 19 (non-waiverable).
3. Have a GT score of 110 or higher for all scholarships.
4. Be accepted into a four-year degree granting university as an academic junior for a two-year scholarship (a minimum of 60 credit hours), or as an academic sophomore for a three- year scholarship (a minimum of 30 credit hours). This university must be a host school or cross-enrolled with a host school.

            c. REQUIREMENTS FOR BOTH PROGRAMS

1. Meet requirements in AR 145-1, Chapter 3, Section I, paragraphs 3-5 through 3-12.
2. Process a Chapter 16 discharge through YOUR chain of command and sign a contract with ROTC Cadet Command prior to an honorable discharge from the Army. Procedures are outlined in AR 635-200, Chapter 16, paragraph 2 (located in Enlisted Ranks Update). (See paragraph 3 below).
3. Be a U.S. citizen.
4. Have completed a minimum of two years on active duty at time of discharge.
5. Enlistment requirements for use of Montgomery GI Bill require that three months of active duty be completed for every one month of specialized training (waiverable).
6. Cannot have more than three dependents (i.e. spouse plus two children), however this may be waived.  Cannot be a single parent with legal custody of the child(ren).  This is non-waiverable.  Cannot have any dependents if spouse is a member of any branch of the armed service, active or reserve (waiverable).
7. Have a recent pre-commissioning physical examination (DODMERB) within six months of application deadline date. Physical cannot be over one year old as of the first day of class. Meet procurement medical fitness standards IAW AR 40-501 for non-scholarship and AR 40-29 for scholarship. Meet body composition/weight control standards of AR 600-9 at the time of discharge. You must pass an Army Physical Fitness Test (APFT) within six months of application deadline date.
8. Provide a letter of acceptance from a four-year degree granting institution that offers Army ROTC.
9. Provide a letter of acceptance from the Professor of Military Science (PMS) at the institution you will be attending.

2. Provide the following information to the ROTC office of the institution you will be attending to obtain your PMS letter of acceptance.

a. A copy of your pre-commissioning physical examination
b. A completed Cadet Command Form 139-R (pages 1 & 2). Can be obtained from any Army ROTC office.
c. A statement from your commanding officer verifying reenlistment eligibility.
d. A legible copy of all university transcripts. Originals are not necessary.
e. A legible copy of your birth certificate. An original is not necessary. Hospital issued certificates are not acceptable. Must be a copy issued by your state health department.

3. As a minimum the following items should be included in your Chapter 16 discharge request:

            a. DA Form 4187. In section IV-Remarks included as a minimum the following:

1. Request release from active duty IAW AR 635-200, Chapter 16, paragraph 16-2, for acceptance into the Reserve Officers’ Training Corps (ROTC).
2. I have been accepted by ________ (enter the name of the university/college you will attend) and its Military Science Department.
3. I meet all the physical, academic and administrative prerequisites for enrollment.
4. This action is not in contravention with AR 600-31, Suspension of Favorable Personnel Action.
5. The following information is submitted for your consideration:
                        BASD:                                     ETS:                             PMOS:
6. Request a separation date of __________(enter date, date must be within 30 days of start date of class).

            b. The following items should be enclosures to the DA Form 4187:

    1. A copy of your letter of acceptance from the University/college.
    2. A copy of your letter of acceptance from PMS.
    3. Enlisted Records Brief (ERB)
    4. APFT Card (DA Form 705)
    5. Recent LES and current orders
    6. Copy of physical
    7. Copy of ROTC contract (only if PSB needs it, then it will be done at main campus)

4. Responsibility for completion of many of these steps is yours. Determination and dedication will ensure your success.
