Dr. Bert Little: Heart Disease Research Research scientists constantly look for more effective, safer medications. Sometimes a drug that is effective in treating one condition increases the risk from another condition. For example, the pain medication Vioxx has been shown to increase the risk from heart attacks. Dr. Little uses statistical analysis to assess the risk posed by commonly prescribed drugs.
