Learn to tie your own flies! If you have ever wanted to learn how to tie flies or learn about fly fishing, this is your opportunity. The Clinic will be taught by Allen Crise (Glen Rose, TX), a Federation of Fly Fishermen--Master Fly Casting Instructor. Ol' Al has been teaching fly casting and tying for 25+ years and will discuss and demonstrate basic tying techniques and terminology. This is an interative cilnic so be read yto walk away with hand-tied flies. No experience necessary! All fly fishing equipment is provided!

Navigation

Whether you backpack, paddle, or just enjoy getting off the beaten path, having confidence in land navigation is key to being a competent outdoorsman. Learn how to read a topographic map and properly use a compass.

Learn to Belay

Learn how to properly belay so that you and your friends can climb without needing a staff member to belay you.  Basic safety, rules, policies, and skills needed to belay will be covered in the course.  Once you pass your Skills Test, you will be able to check-out your own belay device.         

Climbing

Learn the basic movements and vocabulary of climbing.  Enhance your knowledge, use your past experience, and meet some friends.

Backcountry Cooking

Learn how to operate a one backpacking stove (one burner), plan, and cook simple nutritious meals while away from modern conveniences.  Meal planning will stem from conserving weight, minimizing waste, and hearty enjoyable dishes.

Bike Maintenance (OP/BC)

Learn the basics of maintaining a bike from change a tire to correct seat length.  If you already have a bike or are in the market for buying one, you should attend this educational clinic.  This clinic is sponsored by Outdoor Pursuits and the Tarleton Bike Club.
