PASS for PICOS Participants

The Program to Acclimate Students to Scholastics (PASS) is designed to serve as a Summer Intensive Program to ease the transition from high school into University life for those students who have been selected to participate in the PICOS Program.  The students eligible must be granted regular admission status and have been selected to the PICOS Program, attend Summer II 2009,  Texan Orientation, & Duck Camp.  PASS provides up to $2,500 for Summer II tuition, fees, room & board as recommended by the PASS committee.  The students’ books will be provided as part of the scholarship and they will have to be returned to Student Success Programs at the conclusion of the Summer II session.  For Fall 2009, the applicants must be eligible for full admission to Tarleton State University, and participate in the PICOS Residential College Program which includes a DGS 101 course, the University Seminar class and full-time coursework determined by the PICOS Director.

Priority consideration will be given to those students who:

  • Have  been selected as participants of the Tarleton State University PICOS Program
  • Complete the FAFSA and qualify for Pell grant support
  • Are first-generation students, for whom neither parent or legal guardian have attended college
  • Have not enrolled in college level course work since high school graduation

How to Apply

Complete the following components online or on paper as instructed on the given websites:

Complete the following components and mail to the PICOS Program:

  • Complete the General Scholarship Application form found at the Scholarship Office website.
  • Write an essay, which also counts as your Personal Statement Essay for the
    general scholarship application, that describes in detail
    • Your interest in and aptitude for one or more of the PICOS disciplines,
    • Your involvement and accomplishments in school, community, etc.,
    • Your future goals, and
    • Your motivation and commitment to your education and future.
  • Your résumé.
  • Mail the scholarship application, essay, and resume to:
