The Chemistry program is housed on the top floor of the new $32 million Science Building. All laboratories are equipped with electrical and computer outlets, vacuum, compressed air, natural gas, and deionized water outlets at all student stations.

Major chemical instrumentation currently available in the department includes the following:

  • UV-visible Spectroscopy - single and double beam instruments
  • Infrared Spectroscopy - dispersive and FTIR instruments
  • Gas Chromatography
  • Gas Chromatography-Mass Spectroscopy
  • High Performance Liquid Chromatography
  • Atomic Absorption Spectroscopy
  • Inductively Coupled Plasma Spectroscopy
  • Fourier Transform Nuclear Magnetic Resonance Spectroscopy
  • Scanning Electron Microscopy

A large number of minor instruments are also available for use in teaching and research by students and faculty.

You will enjoy Tarleton's spacious classrooms, other well-equipped laboratories and modern, electronically advanced library with more than a million items, including extensive microfilm and microfiche collections.  Tarleton has extensive teaching facilities campuswide, and major off-campus teaching centers are available for all areas of study.
