BUSINESS CARDS
The functions of a business card are to identify the institution and the individual representing it and to provide an easy way to contact that person.
Printed business cards for University and Intercollegiate Athletic personnel are are 3.5" X 2" bearing either the one-color or two-color University logo or the two-color treatment for Intercollegiate Athletics.
Business cards include a logo, an individual’s name (with degrees listed if space permits), job title, location (area, college, department, etc.), mailing address, phone number, fax number, and E-mail address. A department Web address may be included under the E-mail address. Secondary titles and departments or program names may be included if space permits.
GENERAL GUIDELINES
To ensure graphic integrity, authorized vendors and organizations who need to reproduce the official logo and other official graphics should obtain mechanical or digital source material from the Office of Publications and Graphic Design rather than attempt to recreate graphic material.
Digitally rendered images should not be disproportionately scaled. Stretching digital graphics horizontally or vertically in a computer application results in distortion that denigrates the proportions of the design. Scale graphics proportionately by locking the aspect ratio or holding down the shift key while dragging a corner resize handle. Be aware that scaling graphics can affect the resulting resolution. Graphic elements should always contain enough resolution to image without discernable pixels (the square mosaic-like tiles which make up digital images) on the output device (printer or monitor).
For detailed considerations pertinent to Tarleton State University marketing publications, refer to the Guide to Marketing Communications.

UNIVERSITY IDENTITY
“Tarleton State University” should be spelled
out on first reference in publication text. Thereafter, “Tarleton”
or “the University” may be used.
Tarleton State University should not be referred to or be presented as “Tarleton
State,” “Tarleton University,” or “TSU.”
The official colors of Tarleton State University are purple
and white.
The Tarleton purple should match PANTONE Matching System (PMS) solid (spot)
color 268 as closely as possible. Because PMS solid colors are guides for
mixing ink, paint, and other pigments, they can only be approximated in process-color
(four-color) printing and on Web pages.
The process-color formula which, according to PANTONE's Color Bridge guide, most closely matches PMS 268 is 86% cyan,
100% magenta, 0% yellow, and 12% black (86C 100M 0Y 12K) (assuming a 150 line screen printed on a standard web offset press [SWOP]).
Although printed colors can only be simulated on a computer monitor and any given color will vary from monitor to monitor, the PANTONE Color Bridge RGB conversion for PMS 268 coated is HTML #4F2D7F (79R 45G 127B).
Using the official university logo eliminates the confusion of different visual messages. No other graphic treatments should be presented as logos of the University. Other graphic treatments may be used as elements on Web pages, apparel, organizational logos, etc., but should follow the University identity guidelines so that no design supplants the university logo. University branches and entities not located in Stephenville, TX, may employ unique logos.
The university logo should always appear on the
following university publications:
• recruitment material for students
• catalogs and class schedules
• external publications
• college and department newsletters
• university forms
• development publications
• university policy publications
• university stationery and business cards
• recruitment materials for faculty and staff
• all advertising
Digital Graphics Files
For your convenience, we provide the following logo and graphic element files. The Office of Publications and Graphic Design can provide files in other sizes (please do not attempt to enlarge JPEG, TIFF, or other fixed-resolution bitmap files) and formats. To derive a larger bitmap file than is supplied here, open a vector format file (EPS, PDF, and AI) with image editing software such as Adobe Photoshop and set the desired dimensions in the opening dialog box. The software will render a fixed resolution bitmap from the resolution-independent vector information.

Use of the Tarleton seal is highly restricted. Its use is confined to the following documents: diplomas and certificates evidencing completion of degree requirements and/or courses of study; all transcripts of grades earned for completion of course work; and all contracts and documents which require the signature of the President and/or other responsible university officers which involve legal, ceremonial or financial transactions, if such documents require a seal. Use of the seal as a design element on pamphlets, brochures, other printed pieces, and on novelty items and apparel is discouraged.
Intercollegiate Athletic Symbols
All externally-targeted printed materials for intercollegiate
athletics must be presented to Tarleton’s NCAA Compliance Coordinator
through the Sports Information Director. All intercollegiate athletics publications
must be approved by the Office of Publications and Graphic Design.
When limited to one color, symbols should be printed in purple (PMS 268) or
black.
Licensing privileges of the intercollegiate athletics symbols for off-campus
use should be referred to the Vice President for the Division of Institutional
Advancement.
