Parent Relations - Division of Student Life - Tarleton State University

Parents Orientation

Parents Orientation is a separate yet concurrent program designed specifically for parents, guardians, and spouses of new students.  We encourage all family members to attend orientation with their student. This program consists of special presentations designed to help family members assist with their students’ transition to college by becoming familiar with the University and its many resources.

This program includes opportunities to meet with faculty, administrators, and students to discuss such issues as academic behavior, university expectations, FERPA,  student housing, student health care, campus safety, money management, available support services, and commuter student concerns. We encourage questions on these and other topics.

Parents wishing to attend Orientation should pre-register and pay for Orientation at the same time as their student. All registration is held on-line, please refer to your First Year Expericence (FYE) booklet for steps to register. the registration fee for family members is $25.00 each; this fee includes lunch, the services of the student orientation leaders, and all program materials. Any parent/guardian who comes to Orientation and has not pre-registered will have an opportunity to register on site.  We encourage you to register at the same time as your student.
