The primary mission of the Office of Planning, Evaluation, and Institutional Research is to provide information and structure which supports institutional planning, assessment, policy analysis, and decisions
leading to institutional effectiveness.
Outcome Objectives:
-
Divisional and departmental leaders will acquire or have the knowledge needed to prepare and complete unit strategic plans and assessment reports.

Annual and semester Fact Books will be used widely in the university community.
-
OPEIR will provide a leadership role in achieving valid and reliable sources of information.
-
Administrators will receive accurate, timely, useful information when making special requests.
-
OPEIR will utilize the most efficient means available to achieve desired ends, including technologies, strategies, design, and methods.

The Office of Planning, Evaluation, & Institutional Research
monitors and assists with the:
-
Texas Higher Education Coordinating Board's Access and Equity Plan,
-
Information Resources Plan,
-
Coordinating Board's Educational Technology Plan,
-
Texas A&M University Systems' Enrollment Management and Crisis Management Plans, and the
-
Master Facilities Plan.
These special plans are evaluated for consistency and comparability with Tarleton's Strategic Plan.
PLANNING
-
Creating and maintaining a strategic plan to meet the requirements of the State of Texas, The Texas A&M University System, the Southern Association of Colleges and Schools, and Tarleton.

Initiating and maintaining all planning documents for the institution.
-
Initiating, scheduling and hosting planning meetings on campus, including an annual strategic planning retreat and committee meetings.

Maintaining a "library" of all planning and evaluation documents including reports for the Texas Higher Education College Board, Texas A&M University System, Southern Association of Colleges & Schools, National Collegiate Association of Athletes, and other such organizations including electronic documents.

Chairing the University Planning Council.

Coordinating the planning function for the university by working with campus leaders.

EVALUATION

Coordinating the institutional function for Tarleton by working with campus leaders.

Maintaining a comprehensive data base for the university including information on students, faculty, employees, enrollment, salaries, facilities, and budgets.

Designing evaluation systems and routines which allow the collection of well-defined data on a regular basis.

Completing evaluations, analyses, and statistical treatment of data as required by the university.
